Hi, Dean:

Yes, you have to slipstream the sata drivers into your Server R2 installation media.

Or if you have a USB FDD, you can copy the files to a floppy disk and when you go to install Server 2003, hit the F6 key when prompted and Windows will continue to load files. Then it will stop and ask you to press the S key to add the drivers.

Now you will see the drivers on the FDD and you have to use the up/down arrow keys to scroll to and select the exact driver you need.

You can find that out beforehand by going to your W7 installation, and if the drive controller is set to ahci, there will be an IDE/ATA ATAPI controllers device manager category. Click to expand that, and you will find the name and model number of the Intel AHCI controller.

If the drive controller is set to RAID, there will be a storage controllers device manager category. Click to expand that and you will see the name and model number of the Intel SATA RAID controller.

I have zipped up and attached all of the XP x64 storage files below. One of them should work depending on how the drive controller is set.

Unzip and slipstream the entire folder, or unzip the folder and copy just the file contents to a floppy disk.

I have also attached a document for how to slipstream the drivers if you are not familiar with the process.

Yes, any of those will work.

2003

I like the USB FDD approach the best. Put the files on the FDD, select the exact sata file you need and off it goes.

But once you are able to make the installation file, you will never have a problem with installing XP/Server 2003 on a newer PC.

BTW, your model was the last in the series that could run XP.

Unfortunately, I can't be of any help to you regarding slipstreaming the drivers.

I used the tutorial I attached for you.

I did it many years ago, and from what I recall, it was very difficult to do.

It took me hours to get it right, and many wasted CD's before I was able to get it to work.

It was (and is), much easier for me to use my USB floppy disk drive to install the sata drivers when I need to install XP 32 or 64 bit on a PC.

I don't have a slipstreamed XP 64 bit disk.

I remembered how hard it was to make the 32 bit one, so I have always used the FDD to install XP x64.

Easy as pie to install the drivers using a FDD.

then i burned the SAME ISO to DVD to try and get it to work as i used rufus to make windows XP bootable flash drive. i think i am going to have to take my Desktop to Matrix computers to install windows xp for me Windows XP Pro SP2 VL 32 bit i got a LEGIT Windows XP from The-Eye.eu/public/MSDN/ i read the 'F6ReadMe' ok so i have to put the Floppy rar file you gave onto a USB when pressing F6 :D WILL IT WORK :D

Hi:

As far as I know, you can only put that file on a floppy disk.

Windows XP does not recognize a USB flash drive when you do the F6 method of installation.

I even tried to trick XP by renaming the USB drive letter to A: thinking that XP was looking for a drive letter A: which is what the floppy disk drive is always named in Windows.

Nope. Didn't see it at all.

Using a FDD is the only way I know of to install XP using the F6 prompt to install the sata drivers.

And as I wrote earlier, I was just lucky to finally make a slipstreamed XP 32 bit disk that worked.

In the end, it wasn't worth all the time and trouble it took me.
